  1. Inhibition of Hypocotyl Elongation: The hypocotyl (the stem-like part of an embryo or seedling above the root and below the cotyledons) shows significantly reduced elongation or growth.
  2. Exaggerated Apical Hook Curvature: The apical hook, which protects the delicate shoot apex as the seedling pushes through the soil, becomes much more pronounced or tightly curved.
  3. Radial Swelling of the Hypocotyl (Thickening): The hypocotyl widens and becomes thicker due to increased cell expansion in the radial direction, rather than longitudinal elongation.
